Chun Jie Kuai Le.
Happy Lunar New Year.
On behalf of the United Nations family in China, I share our kindest regards ahead of the coming Year of the Dragon.
As United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said, “The dragon symbolizes energy, wisdom, protection and good luck. We need these qualities to rise to today’s global challenges.”
We hope the Year of the Dragon can also symbolize the importance of dynamism in all of our lives and the power of everyone to build a better future.
This year is unique, with Lunar New Year joining the United Nations holiday calendar, in recognition of its importance to those who celebrate it around the world.
I also wish to thank the people and Government of China for their ongoing support of the United Nations in China.
We know the Spring Festival is a special moment for families and friends in China to spend quality time with one another.
Let us now use this time to refresh and recommit ourselves to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
We wish good health, prosperity and happiness for all celebrating.
