2026-2030 UNITED NATIONS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION FRAMEWORK FOR THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA
China has made remarkable economic and social progress over the past 45 years, eliminating absolute rural poverty in 2020 and registering substantial improvements in many social indicators, including those for health and education. China has entered a new era in its development, with the Government now aiming to transition from 40 years of rapid economic expansion to a new focus on “high-quality” development.
In this context, China is focused on ensuring its development is innovation-driven, coordinated, green, open and shared by all. This vision is substantially aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). China is currently finalizing its 15 Five Year Plan (FYP) for Economic and Social Development (2026-2030). The next five years align with the final five years of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and China’s push towards high-quality development will likely remain the country’s top priority, while China’s development success is essential for global achievement of the SDGs.
